Critical Care Unit (CCU)
The Department of Critical Care Medicine was established in Nov 2023 under leadership of Dr Gyanendra Kumar Gautam. This department stands on fifth position in establishment in UP after SGPGIMS Lucknow, RMLIMS Lucknow , KGMC Lucknow and BHU Varanasi.
Our ICUs have 30 beds which are fully equipped with state of the art life support systems like high end ventilators, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, Continuous Renal Replacement therapy (CRRT), ABG Machines, portable X-ray Machines, Ultrasound and various high end drug delivery systems which offers organ support in appropriate time round the clock on 24 hour basis.
Our aim is provide a comprehensive management approach to critically ill patients using artificial life support systems to deteriorating organs with prompt diagnosis and immediate interventions which improves the clinical outcome in terms of mortality & morbidity. Our ICUs have integrated management approach with all other superspeciality branches of our hospital which aims to achieve a holistic environment to patient & their family.
Our ICU caters not only Kanpur but also adjoining districts of commisionarate and serves as tertiary referral center.
Future plan
We want to escalate our life support system by acquiring Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation(ECMO), Intra Arterial Ballon Pulsation (IABP), Transvenous Pacing, Trans Cranial Doppler (TCD), Plasma Exchange/ Plasmapheresis Macines, Mobile CT machiene & Liver support system like Molecular absorption recirculating systems. These futuristic approach will insure the availbilty of top notch artificial support system to patients of our vicinity who are being reffered to other higher centers for management.
